Why have we called our new facility “Assisted Living Apartments?”
Is the perception of a nursing home or hostel much worse than the reality? Definitely.
"To some, entering a nursing home or hostel is the last choice they would make and many of our potential residents have been reluctant to do so.
"Yet, after living in a facility for a period of time so many residents have said to me “I should have done this years ago”.
"Southern Cross Care (Qld) Inc has a primary focus of ensuring that our residents are treated with respect and dignity.
"By naming Stretton Gardens Assisted Living Apartments we hope to overcome that initial fear for residents.
"This terminology recognises that their apartment is their home, with the added benefit of receiving assistance with daily living activities.
