Donations and Bequests

It is often thought that aged care is funded entirely by the Federal Government, but this is not the case. While Southern Cross Care (Qld) does receive some Government funding from Federal and State sources, we rely heavily on the support of our community.

The wide range of services Southern Cross Care enables us to assist a diversity of Queensland seniors, regardless of their financial, cultural or care needs.

The demand for versatile aged care will only continue to grow because like many other nations around the world, Australia's population is rapidly ageing.

This is why we are appealing to you to support our caring work by making a donation or by leaving a gift in your will.

Southern Cross Care Queensland is a registered gift recipient under ATO legislation and all donations over $2.00 are fully tax deductible.

Your gift will be used for its intended purpose and not be put toward administrative costs or wages of any kind.

Recent Donations

As a not for profit organisation Southern Cross Care is always grateful for the generosity of donations and bequests.

In May 2006 an anonymous donor gave Southern Cross Care approximately $503,000 and a further $278,000 in February 2007.

This money was put to great use with all purchases going towards improving the daily life of residents.

From this most generous donation we were able to purchase electronic beds to improve independence for residents, air conditioning, refurbish and refurnish common rooms and obtain electrical appliances and musical equipment.

Dementia Support Services donated $7500 for a safety path around the units at Connolly Court Hostel, whch gives the residents a safe passage way to the outdoors.

The Mary Fitzgibbon Trust graciously donates to Southern Cross Care each year. This kind donation is being put to good use with recent purchases of an ‘air chair’, ‘scale seat’ and air conditioning of resident common rooms.

On a regular basis family of our residents donate items to enhance the comfort and lifestyle within our facilities.

Over time families have donated such items as Lift Chairs, a garden statue and paintings.

On behalf of the Southern Cross Care (Qld) Community, we thank you in anticipation.
